Recycled Glass Jewelry

Natural Living For Womendk-header

August 8, 2010

Recycled jewelry made from antique glass or glass discovered in glass dumps throughout wooded areas of the northeast. Each piece is provided with a little history explaining what the glass was originally and approximate age. The cuts and designs I find to be simple, clean and elegant.

Breaking the Glass Ceiling

Momeo Magazine

April 6, 2010

When most people stumble across broken glass, they see a nuisance. When Laura Bergman, owner of Bottled Up Designs, comes upon broken glass she sees an opportunity to create something beautiful.

Whether it’s the broken bits of old Coca-Cola bottles, vintage dishware or antique Depression-era glass, Bergman collects discarded glass pieces and transforms them into “a little piece of history for you to wear.”  See Full Article:  http://www.momeomagazine.com/?s=laura+bergman

Hobbypreneurs

Ockels and King’s report points out the techniques used by hobbypreneurs often are often tradition-rich. “Instead of inventing new technology, [most] focus on alternative uses, re-uses and combinations of existing products and technologies.”

She’s been a lifelong collector of antique glass and bottles, many dug out of “numerous antique glass dumps throughout the wooded habitats and rural farmlands in this beautiful part of the country,” Bergman said.

Putting New Life Into Forgotten Relics of the Past

Even the smallest shards of glass tell stories about the past.  Aqua-colored Coca-Cola bottles and mason jars glisten in the sunlight.  Pure white milk-glass dating back to the early 1900s sheds insight on women’s beauty regimens, as jars of Ponds Cold Cream were purchased, used, and then discarded into what was once known as “bottle dumps.”

ETHICAL STYLE Spring 2010 Women’s Accessories Trend pinksquareearring

Conducive Magazine

As the economy remains poor and Wall Street Journal reports socialites like Debbie Bancroft are budgeting, it’s no wonder women are pushing aside diamonds, platinum, and gold. Instead, women are becoming more practical and are opting for glass and crystal jewelry. Now this doesn’t mean you have to don kitchy costume jewelry. On the contrary, these glass goods range from fun and funky to chic and elegant.
